I really have to thank you for this thread. I had absolutely no idea that so many things were toxic.

If I've dropped a bit of onion or garlic when cooking and Rosie's licked it up, I've thought nothing of it, assuming it would be good for her rather than bad!!

I knew about the chocolate; and it's been a good reason to ban chocolate from our house (helps my wasitline too!) If ever I have any for cooking, which is really rare, it's always kept on the top shelf of the larder well out of madam's reach!!

But raisins and grapes - I had absolutely no idea!! She's never shown an interest in our grapes but they'll no longer be in the fruit bowl on the coffee table thats for sure.

(I must admit Rosie loves brocolli! - so I'll have to take that out of her diet as she gets that once a week with Sunday leftovers!! Rolling Eyes )

A small amount of Broccolli wont harm her, the same as the garlic, although onion would be a no no. Wink

What's a starberry?

If you mean strawberries then yep they are fine, but be warned, once they get a taste for them, you'll never be able to grow em yourself as they always get eaten before you get a look in Laughing

I shared some smoked salmon and horseradish with jasper and he had a fit that evening...I looked up that it was poisonous to dogs, he only had a small amount

It could be coincidence, Smoked Salmon is fine, horseradish does have similar properties to cabbage and broccoli as its from the same family of plants, there is nothing poisonous that I can find.

Horseradish Medicinial properties
Known to have diuretic properties, the roots have been used to treat various minor health problems, including urinary tract infections, bronchitis, sinus congestion, ingrowing toenails and coughs. Compounds found in horseradish have been found to kill some bacterial strains.[4]
