I have also been browsing this thread on and off (dont think I have read all the pages yet) 
I have found the information really helpfull as I am thinking / trying to change my two to a raw diet, I think I have another thread somewhere asking a few questions.
I agree with Sarah, it would be great to here how the newbie raw feeders
have got on and how they have overcome any problems 
Looking forward to hearing from you

Yes, very good thread! With the help of this thread and Joanne (Sleeping_Lion) I'm going to try my hand at raw feeding in the coming weeks I feel so guilty having mainly fed just kibble to them, where's the enjoyment in that?!

Hi,
I have never posted a reply on here before so I hope it shows right.
Reason I am replying is because I feed my dog Alfie a raw diet and I don't like to keep reading about people panicking.
Alfie is 16 months old and has been fed on raw since he was around 5 months old.
I too read lots of books including Ian Billinghursts and did lots of research on the internet.
I too found that the butchers, not all but some are weird in that they would not provide some of the diet so I use the supermarket. Morrisons sell the chicken wings, the liver from ox,lamb,pig and kidney and heart from the same animals. I get Rabbit skinned and chopped from the fish market in town.
I have 2 children and use off cuts from the veg made for their meals and put it through the blender.
I use brewers yeast, kelp and cold extracted active honey, it's costs a bit but lasts for months.
Please don't be worried, the dogs will love it and the benefits are visible.
As long as the meat is not cooked then it's fine, this is the biggest bit of confusion with giving a dog bones and chicken wings etc as if they are cooked they are very very dangerous.
I hope this helps coming from a newbie whose not replied before.

OMG. I am so new to this. I was brought up with dogs. My Mum breed them.
But Mums gone, at the bridge. Sultan, i know if she were here, would sort it.
I just need to know more. I need a diet. What do i feed him on, How many times a day, and what?

Julie theres a "Menu" on the first page (bout 3 or 4 posts down) kindly posted by a member who doesn`t come here anymore, its comprehensive and gives a good idea of what to feed, how much and how often

At 1st reading, there seems a lot to it. But i am sure once i get to grips with it, This is best for Sultan. (He has done so well on chicken, beef and veg).

I am a bit thick. What is RMBs?
Have started Sultan on barf. Early days, but poos are firm, twice a day, and a reasonable amount. Not the elephant size of mash.
I can take him out in day light!!!!.

[I feed both of mine RAW/BARF not ever sure what to call it!
They are both calm(ish), in the best of condition and love their food.
It takes a while to get comfortable about what to feed, but I work on the same basis as children, if you give a good varied diet, including all food groups, you should cover all the bases vitamin and mineral wise.
Poops are small and not unpleasant to deal with and they never take longer than a minute to finish their meals. I would say give it a try and see how you get on. It doesn't have to be expensive, find a good friendly butcher and it costs next to nothing"
