      |
|
Hi, just been to my dog training class with Troy and got talking to the man who runs its wife. She was horrified that I am feeding BARF and told me that it was totally unnatural and and that I would probably start to see a change for the worse in my dogs behaviour.
I was a bit put out and told her the benefits, but she wouldn`t see them.
I just wondered if anyone else has had any adverse comments about their dogs behaviour on BARF. I haven`t noticed any difference in my boys, only that they seem even more food obsessed than before. But that Labs for you.

Oh some people talk such rubbish she probably has no knowledge herself I would say Majic's behaviour has calmed down a lot in the house as she has more satisfacton from her food and feels a lot fuller
Dexter is showing good signs too not with behaviour but with his smell bless him with him been kept outside at his last house he aquired an overpowering smell which meant when he was in foster he had to be ebathed an awful lot to keep it at bay while he has been her we had to bath him a few times when we started BARF as the house stank to high heaven (toxin release) but now no smell and we have had him 2 weeks so a vast improvement
I had a do with the butcher I was going to use as he said 'ooo no yiou can't give chick wings she'll choke for sure ' yeah and she might choke to death on kibble also it drives you mad.
On the plus side when some people hear that you feed rwa they are all ears and very interested in the subject
You do wwhat you want they are your dogs some people just like to jump on the various bandwagons

Thanks for the support Carroll. It does drive me mad, you`re right, she probably has little knowledge herself and is blinkered to the BARF diet.
It won`t change my mind, I`m really into it now, my boys love it. They really seem to enjoy their meals now, and I`m also just about to put my second Landywoods order in.
Can`t wait!!!

How can it be totally unnatural to feed raw to a dog!!, didn`t she realise thats what wild dogs eat, they can hardly nip to the local supermarket for a bag of kibble can they!
When I was a kid dog we had were fed scraps left over from our meals and anything that was about to be ditched, never did them any harm, no "special foods" then and dogs all survived well with not half the problems that seem to affect them these days (not all labs).

I had to giggle when I took Majic to the vets for her spay the young nurse came out and I signed the consent form and asked them to check Majic's teeth and ears as she was having problems eating which of course led into the question what does she get fed?
I told her all about raw feeding and what she had etc........... so she turned round to me and said does she have a dry complete food too then as she can't survive on that
Oh ooops

Harvey is fed on a completely raw diet (i hate the term "Barf" as it has conotations of that strange mix of chicken bones, supplements and vegetables that some seem to think is a "natural" diet). He gets fed meat of all description, some on the bone some of, organs/offal and fish . No vegetables. No supplements (with the exception of fish oil to offset the lack of omega3 in grain fed meat)
It is my heartfelt belief that this is the most natural and beneficial diet for a carnivore and the thought of giving him kibble that he would wolf down in seconds instead of having the joy and benefits of tackling real food is horrifying. Would we chose to eat kibble instead of real food even if it provided all the nutrients we needed? .. i think not!
Well done to all of you who are, or are thinking about, giving your labs the (raw) diet they deserve

Can I ask about fish. I know this might sound really stupid, but do you feed fish whole, as they were caught with head etc. Haven`t yet tried my boys on it, but I know they`ll love it.
I suppose it isn`t any different to RMBs, but just thought I`d ask.
Thanks.
