Sire: Whillanbeck Ryan

there are some whillanbeck dogs in denmark, one is after dargdaffin dynamo, may be you get in contact over the whillanbeck breeder, or the
owner of the sire?

Hi James

Have just picked up on your old posting, and thought you might be interested to know that we owned what would have been a litter brother to your dog we believe.
Dillon was sadly PTS at a very young age as he had severe OCD in his stifle. Dillon's story and some photos are on the lab-health website.
I will try and find Dillon's papers soon, he had the same DOB and was from the same breeder so I suspect they are related, but reading your posting and seeing the piccies has set the tears flowing again.

Your boy is really handsome too...

Viki

Hi Viki

Really sorry to hear about Dillon Sad It must be awful to lose him just after you've got to know him. Thanks for the post. I only really visit here every now and then, so it was just by chance that I came across my old thread.

Can you see a family resemblence between the two?

Cheers

more piccies...

Oooh - all these welsh peeps cropping up on LH Very Happy I am assuming from the thread that Toby and his brother have not developed any problems?

Hi Sue

Toby is very energetic and stands up, jumps and runs with no problems at all. Smile The vet has given him a good bill of health with regard to his hips/joints etc. I took the precaution of keeping him away from stairs and just light exercise until a few months ago.

His Dam's hip score was 4/4 BTW, which is pretty low I think, is this related to OCD?

Let's just hope it was a one-off.

OCD more frequently occurs in the elbows but can affect the hock, shoulder or knee joint also,
the hip scores are done to check the level of Hip Dysplacia in any 1 dog, so a score of 4:4 would be a very acceptable scoring Smile

I'm not sure that anyone could "blame" a breeder for a dog developing OCD of the stifle (knee) joint though, it is not an area currently recommended for screening and unless the breeders bitch/stud dog was noticebly suffering, they may not have realised that may have been a problem in that area, but would have been stupid and selfish to breed if they did know Smile
