I love my trusty old Mondeo estate. Plenty of room for me and five dogs to sleep in.

We did a huge amount of research 6 months ago on finding the right car that ticked all the boxes with dogs and family.

Ultimately, taking into account petrol consumption, comfort and dog friendliness we narrowed it down to three cars:

Kia Sedona, Ford Galaxy and The Renault Scenic Grande or Espace.

The Espace was my personal choice but the economy wasn't as good in the end we got the Scenic Grande 1.6 - absolutely perfect.

There is a lot of 'fancy stuff' to go wrong (it's all a bit of a novelty still to me Laughing Wink ). Ours is 08 plate and under warranty until July. We did have to take it back to have the petrol cap sorted as when we pressed it inside it woildn't open, but that was sorted. Also OH broke the electronic boot catch cos he was pressing and pulling it instead of just pressing it. They replaced that FOC too Laughing Laughing

Might be a different tale though after July Laughing Wink Laughing

Fingers crossed you've got a "goodun" there.

Mine was an ex DLA car - so thought it would be ok as they are supposed to be well looked after.

I've had new clutch, new air suspension, new ABS block - you name it .... tired of chucking money in to it. Last week, breaking down twice was the turning point for me. Even my AA man said "it comes to something when the service dept of a garage know you by first name and your phone number off by heart!" Laughing Rolling Eyes

I was about to order my tailgate guard for it last week too! Shocked so glad I didnt - or that would have been even more money down the pan!

I've also had a Scenic - that went when I was quoted 2.5K for a new gearbox! Shocked

We have moved on now as I got given a company car - however we used to have a Vauxhall Zafira, you could pick either one of the newer models for a bit more, but if I was you I would get like an 03 plate - they will be dirt cheap now and have huge boots!

Let us know what you choose

Thank you all for your advice, i'd love a new fiesta they are so cheap to run but I can't as I think my boys would think i'd lost it trying to get them in one of those boots!! lol lol obviously i wouldn't even try.

However thanks for all your comments I guess I will have to shop around for a good deal on a larger car. Shame there are no dog friendly garages that allow dogs to come for test drives, that's what i could do with.

My whippet x pointer thinks the C-max is too high also!! we have to lift him in. Funny how the dog gate is twice the height yet that is easy to jump over.

Very Happy Hi, I've always been a Renault girl and had a clio when we got Tyson which he soon out grew! I've not got a Renault Grand Modus which has a back seat on a runner so you can make the boot bigger or give your passengers more leg room. It does 50 miles to the gallon round town and there is loads of room for Tyson in the back. He always sits with his back resting against the seats looking out of the back window. I think he would stay in the car all day if you let him - his Dad was the same apparently.

Just waiting for my subscription to come through and then I can post lots more!!

RUTH (Tysonsmum)
