poo bags
brush / nail clippers / ear cleaner / toothpaste (always good to get them used to being groomed from an early age)
flea and worm stuff (it's been years since I had a pup, but don't they need doing fairly regularly?)
Angela
Its the stuff like that that gets forgotten! thanks
I will defo need some poo bags, ive got Monty's brushes, I don't intend if brushing my dogs teeth.
Don't you need to get flea and worm stuff from the vets?
Zoflora disinfectant and a spray bottle for it, for all those little accidents on the carpet (and it smells lovely too!)
Rather than buy expensive crate mats or blankets, I find the tesco cheapy duvets (in an old duvet cover) folded over and the Ikea fleecy blankets (about £3) were great - and washed and dried really quickly too.
How exciting! have you an old towel or blanket that you can pass to the breeser the week or so before you pick new pup up, so he has something that smells of mum?

The bedding on the bottom of the crate is an ikea fleece throw. It was under £2. The breeder is giving us some bedding when we collect our pup
Wormer is a deffo - the breeder should tell you when she/he last wormed pup. When we got Baxter he was due to be wormed so we let him settle in for a couple of days as pups can get bad tums with the change in water etc, and then we wormed him. I won't describe his poops the next morning
We used Puppy Drontal which you can buy online or get from Pets at Home.
Another couple of things.... we asked both our breeders for a bit of old blanket that the other pups had slept on - to put in the crate for a familiar settling smell, and then we later used a T-shirt / top we'd been wearing and put that in the crate in place of the smelly old puppy blanket.
We also bought Hattie a warming heat pad too, and both of them had their own bedtime bear's for cuddling - old teddy bears
Well ok these aren't exactly necessities but I'll tell you what my lab's favourites were when he was little -
tuffies lil oscar
tuffies junior ring
nylabone large puppy keys (the red/blue/yellow ones)
a nylabone ring
wubba, snugga wubba, wet wubba, mega wubba (yes he had them all!)
good boy vinyl squeeky ball
zogoflex bone shaped toy
cardboard boxes / tubes / empty plastic milk bottles without lids
he didn't like kong classics as a pup though he does now and wasn't safe with very soft toys until he was older as he tended to chew or suck on them until the stuffing came out.
I like those IKEA blankets and towels too, I think Sam's probably got about 15 but they were only £1.67 each so why not! He also couldn't have cared less about the blanket the breeder gave us that smelled of his litter in fact he didn't want anything to do with it! He does love the smell of wool wash or comfort pure though, no idea why but if I wash anything in either he'll snuggle into it, as a pup he was particularly obsessed with my Mum's cardigans and dressing gowns!
I have to warn you though that I'm terrible for buying things they don't actually need just because I like them, I probably kept the dog toy shops in business single handedly when he was younger and I'm not a great deal better now!

Thanks for the recommendations I will research them!

No, buy Drontal, Frontline etc. at Pets at Home or online as it's cheaper. The pup is likely to have been wormed when it went for its first jab so probably won't need worming again until its second jab but check with your breeder
