Hi all, I'm Sarah (yeah, creative username!) and 2 days ago found myself the new owner of a 1 year old yellow Lab named Spencer. This happened rather suddenly, after losing our Rupert Bear to kidney failure we'd actually decided to research breeders and try to get a working bred GSD but apparently fate had other plans and Spence came along needing a home. Labs are a breed that generally seem to fit what I want in a dog so we went to meet him and that was it, he came home with us. The same sort of thing happened with my last dog, I think I'm destined not to have a young pup for some reason
I've had dogs before, all mixed breeds, so not new to dog ownership but am obviously new to Labradors. Spencer is already proving to be intelligent and very quick to learn as well as very willing to work for either a food reward or a game of tug. He's had a little training in his previous home, he knows how to sit for a second or two, knows his name and his recall isn't bad as far as we can tell. Not had him off leash yet, just on a long line but he responds well to being called back.
So yeah, that's us! And here he is if I can figure out how to add a pic. The chewed up toy was actually Ruperts favourite, Spencer latched on to it as soon as he found it.

Welcome to LF. Well done on taking on a 'rescue' dog. He does look rather gorgeous (he's yellow ) and he has a cheeky face.
You will never regret having found your labrador. I am biased by the way. I am sure you will love the forum, it's very friendly with many useful tips, inspirations, support and advice. Labrador heaven
