Silly question but do you have to do all three peaks in one day? *I have never climbed a peak in my life*

yes - 24 hours to climb the highest 3 Peaks in England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis) and Wales (Snowdon)! (unless the OP is talking about the Yorkshire 3 Peaks?)

I think people underestimate how hard such walking is for their dogs - a lab had to be rescued from Scafell Pike a few years back:

That's properly put me off taking Kenko with me on 4-5 day hikes in the Pyrenees, when he's grown up.I think it would be foolhardy of me because there are many rough, stony trails down there to cut up his paws...especially up at altitude.

What you'll need is the ruffware hiking boots! Laughing
We do week long hiking holidays in the Lakes/Wales and towards the end of the week Indy would have really sore feet. One place where we stayed had a gravel drive and it was obviously really uncomfortable for Indy to walk along it. I got him the boots and it made such a difference. I only used them on the really rough terrain, but at the end of the week he was still happily walking.
Moss, on the other hand, is more of a tough boy and manages quite well. Millie hasn't been on any "proper" walks yet as she just didn't have the fitness when I got her last summer.

Perhaps your support team could meet you with Meg at check points and then she could walk a bit with you then go with them then come back and see you again at a later point do a bit more then go back with them and so on. My Dad did the three peaks many years ago when he was young and he says his only regret is him and his mates didn't do proper training and warm ups when they did things in those days and as a result he's got terrible knees now he's older so my advice is make sure you train and prepare properly! Good luck the three peaks is a fab challenge, I'd love to do it if I was fit.

Thank you all for your comments. I think we have come to the decision not to take Meg. I think we knew this really anyway.

Thanks again.

Di,Chris and Meg.
