I guess John will probably be able to give us a clue about this, but my vet thinks Pogue ( the pup that wasn't thriving) may have Hydrocephalus. This will probably shorten his life but not sure by how much. He is having partial seizures, mobility problems and is growing fast, he now weighs 5.2k @ nearly 11wks and much heavier than his 2 siblings (still here).
He is not available for adoption and may well stay here!!
He is an adorable pup!!

Marianne ~ it might be worth giving Fionna at Lizzies Barn a call (I can PM you her number) as she has recently been dealing with hydrocephalus in Royston, the cavalier pup that was handed in.
Would you like her number?

I`m sorry to hear Pogue may have hydrocephalus, not sure what the prognosis would be but I know that you and Steph will give him a good life no matter how long or short it may be:)
Very sorry if it proves to be that But it must be better to have a diagnosis and to know what you are dealing with. I know nothing about it but he sounds like a happy little chap so will have a good life with you whatever you all have to face. It sounds like you have a real bond with him so i wish you the best of times with him as a member of your family.

Sorry to say, I dont have much info. The only dog I knew personally was a Cavalier suffering from hydrocephalus Epilepsy caused by a bang on the head. My books tell me cortisone or an operation to fix a drain, but in the case of the dog I knew (at my club) cortisone seemed to be holding it at bay. But then the dog's training was going well and I never saw the dog again, so I dont know how things went long term.
