Milo was only scent marking and it is right next to a public footpath where alot of dogs get walked. Also it's not as though he took good care of the hedge! It definately wasn't pristinely pruned and had a load of litter in the bottom!More like neglected! So was definately NOT his pride and joy! He'd already emptied his bladder on a grass verge!
Laura I might just look puzzled if he shouts at me again! Wink
Wendy I agree you can't scoop up wee! Rolling Eyes

I'm much like Mo, as in mine don't get to stop in lead, unless I tell them to and then it's on a grassy area away from other people's properties.

I live on a corner and have a small wall running round my property. I am in no way house proud but it does wind me up when everyone lets their dogs wee up my wall, as it stinks. I have to go out and wash it down in the summer months as it can become really revolting. Knowing I have several dogs myself, prevents me from saying anything (because people do like to get their own back if you upset them, don't they), however several other houses in the street have signs up on their walls and hedges asking people not to let their dog wee up there. And I think that's only fair really.

Dogs do need to empty their bowels and bladders and they can be trained to do this in an appropriate place, but they don't need to scent mark.

Oh god, I'm feeling bad now - Max has turned into a nightmare marker last couple of months. We always give him the opportunity in the garden before a walk, but he has started sitting down and refusing to go before a walk - I swear he is saving it for his walk. I must admit I do try and keep him away from people's walls as I feel bad, and if we can keep it to a grass verge/tree I prefer that, but he is relentless. He even poops with his leg ****** which seems extreme marking to me! I think we missed a trick and should have nipped it in the bud when he started doing it Sad

It's one of the reasons we have decided to get him neutered now, that and his nose getting stuck to ladies' bottoms!! Fingers crossed it helps.

This is interesting and got me thinking that we need to improve our manners in this respect. We have been working on the scent marking weeing over the last week or so as it is such a pain, but would love to get Frankie to 'go on command' and to gutter train him. Any tips please?

many thanks - delightful subject!
regards
Patricia & Frankie
