I'm still sitting here in shock that a vet could say a 7 1/2 week old puppy is overweight
Me too
Dylan would have one week where he looked on the cuddly side and then the next week he would look as if we were starving him because they grow so quickly at that age.
I used to treat Dylan with carrot and apple cut into very small pieces. he loved them and still does and they worked brilliantly as treats for training.

Hi
Just to reassure you, with Gus I would weigh out his daily allowance in the morning and would take some out of it for training. We've trained him to pee outside, his name, sit, stay, paw and lie down all with his normal food! If it comes from your hand rather than the bowl then they think it's great! If he isn't fussed on his food I'll take some in my hand and he thinks its amazing as through the treats he thinks it's a good thing!!
I've only really introduced actual dog treats when he was about 13 weeks for games he needs to use his nose for!
I'd agree with others not to worry about what the vet has said. Puppies go through various stages as they grow, until they become the adult they're meant to be
If you are looking for training treats, I just wrote a post about the Barker & Barker ones. I find their little liver treats really great for training pups. I don't know how fattening they are but I have used their treats for years for all ages of dogs and think they are great
