Only have one now but in the days of when we had Candy and Jet... there was 11 year age gap between them and we walked them together no bother mixture of pavement lead walking then free running in the woods and farm lanes.
I would also agree that if the lead dog is well behaved which ours was, the other would follow and behave nicely. Back in those days I didn't drive anywhere with the dogs it was all local on the doorstep.
Where as now as a variation I will bundle Ellie into the car and we'll go somewhere for an adventure. (Not just yet she is still recovering from her spay)

When our son's beagle was here Ellie pup picked up allsorts of bad behaviour from her.. but our grandson when out walking commented on how good Ellie was and we even had to send the pup to retrieve the 2 year old Beagle - finally Beagle cottoned on that the rewards were better if you did was you were told.

I am thinking perhaps later in the year we shall explore the options of becoming a 2 dog family again.

Lined up ready for the lead walk tonight. Bitterly cold so coats on - Jed normally only wears one if it is torrential rain or snow but Cass was dancing round being silly and every time I called her he came over and stood waiting, so he got to wear his tonight.

I walk my three together GSD, Lab and cocker pup. They can now all walk well on street walks GSD is on a head collar not because he pulls just gives me control as isn't too good with strange dogs when on lead (issues from being bitten when he was little) my cocker did pull but she was lame on new years day and could only have short lead walks for two weeks so I thought I'd put it to good loose lead work practise Laughing Then when we get to the park lab and cocker go off but GSD stays on lead due to his issues and being an old boy with dodgy hips I like to keep him steady. When I used to have two labs and gsd I had to do two lots of walks as my old boy was soooooo friendly it just didn't work as he wanted to meet everyone Laughing I love the fact that we can all go out together now makes it much more enjoyable Very Happy
