It was deigned for huskies and is used by working dogs, vets and people needing to build up a dog. If you look at the active pet feeds web it shows you all about them but yes, one square a day, normal food and you are done. We use them for the dogs at lunch time when they are working hard. Its just basically like a power bar for dogs.
I found Amber was incredibly windy on JWB - changed her to Burns and within days the problems stopped, so I suspect it is just a case of finding a kibble which suits your dog better. Hope you manage to get it sorted
They even like the shell but thats our secret or I could get in trouble for letting them
If you're feeding dogs raw eggs, then you SHOULD feed the shell as well: the egg contains phosphorous, whilst the shell contains the calcium
June - Tucker was on Burns whilst he was here on foster and he was REALLY windy on it. I tried juggling the portions and nothing made it any better. I think Laura posted to say he only stopped being windy when she weaned him on to a completely different food

A good quality food, which is high in meat content, and a good percentage of protein and fat, will not only build the dog up but should avoid the 'wind' issues.
I would try Orijen or (the less expensive) Acana, as both are grain free, so not full of cheap and unnecessary (and windy!) fillers!
My two have been on JWB for over 2 years. George had always been a little windy but over the past few weeks has sounded like an old man - proper loud farts and burps. I stopped the kibble and am feeding him tinned Chappie until the new kibble arrives (Simpson's Salmon & Potato). I have noticed hardly any wind at all the last 2 days so it was obviously the kibble.
Benson doesn't have a wind problem so just proves what is right for one dog might be wrong for another. Hopefully, the new kibble will suit George better but I am going to start him off on half kibble and half NatureDiet wet food and see how we get on.
Joanne, I did put Bruno on JWB when he first came and his Poo's were mountainous an the wind was , thats why he went onto the same as Mischa [Burns]. At first it was noticebly much better, but he has got windy over the last 6 months, and the output is more than it should be, although the first lot of the day is firm the rest just seems to be a lot of waste.
I have been reading and pricing up the Orijen, it seems very comparable with Burns and does sound better, just need to work out which one to go for and order it.
