Its Bruno, he has always dropped the odd silent but deadly one Rolling Eyes , but lately they are becoming more often and noticeable, especially on walks.
Gets embarrassing when everyone is checking their boots to see if they've trod in something Embarassed .

He is fed on Burns Lamb and Brown Rice and a few treats, plus an occassional boiled egg at lunch time or some sardines, I have not really noticed it is worse when he has these extra's, but am thinking he may have a problem as Mischa has the same food as him with no side affects.

He did have an OP for twisted gut in his previous life in kennels, and now I am wondering if this could be something that might upset his digestion.

His Poo's are normal but huge, other than that he drinks plenty and I think he is well in himself, but being a quiet boy it is hard to tell.

Apart from changing food any ideas on what I should do, and would you be thinking I should maybe have a word with the vet.

I am not against feeding him something different but where do I start, am planning on moving them all onto Burns Alert end of next week, am wondering if maybe he would be better on something else completely.

There is one other thing that maybe a factor, he is partial to the odd discarded poop when we are out Confused .

Any suggestions would be great.

June

If you want to stick with Burns, I won't be much help, but I must say that I found my dogs had awful wind on Burns. I can't remember for sure which one we were feeding, but I think we tried several Burns varieties. It got so bad my husband begged me to stop feeding it to them!

Not had the same problem with any of the other foods we have given them. I've been feeding Naturediet for around 12 years now (sometimes with a dry food too) and that's always been fine and we've also given them Orijen, Arden Grange and Fish4Dogs and possibly others which have slipped my mind Smile

I've read that adding a spoon of natural yoghurt can help with wind. If they are ok with yoghurt.

Thanks Angela, I will try the yoghurt for a few days, I did use to put a tspn on Mischa's when she was a pup.

Then if it does'nt improve will switch his food to the Orijen or similar, have been thinking about that when reading other threads, it does sound popular.

How about a charcoal biscuit - I think they do charcoal versions of bonios?

Sam was terribly windy and had very large poos on Skinners, though not on Burns, he doesn't have that on other foods so maybe it just doesn't suit Bruno and changing him onto something else would be a good plan.

One of the products in the food or more than one are not being digested fully creating gas so it would point towards the food.
I am sort of banned from mentioning food but instead of sardines use a fish oil like salmon oil to replace that and I know plenty of feeds that will cure the problem.

Fennel seeds are good for helping ease wind problems, I'd sprinkle a few in with his fish meal. Also, why do you cook the eggs for him? They're much better raw, just one or two a week shouldn't be a problem.

I can apparently say I use here at the kennels Active Pet Salmon Oil and Active Pet Active food and have no problems. But I am sure there are others. Overlooked the boiled egg part and we had issues with Eggs raw so now feed very lightly scrambled if we have to. I have to say though the dogs do love to carry a fresh egg from the chickens back to the kennel and then we allow them to eat it. They even like the shell but thats our secret or I could get in trouble for letting them Razz

Smile Smile Bruno gets an egg when Suzie has hers [ she was getting egg with her other mum before she came to us a week ago ], so that he does'nt feel left out .

Bruno and Suzie are both a little ribby, and I am trying to put a bit more covering on them, but they do follow me around alot, hence no weight problems with them at all. I cannot feed anymore kibble to either as it just go's straight through Rolling Eyes .

Try one square of pemmican a day which is a small thing and is about 500 calories a piece. That will do the job without needing to feed more kibble.

Thanks Kronch, but what is pemmican, sounds like a solution would that be suitable for building up a girl that has been producing pups continually for 4 years?
