an anyone help, my lab seems really out of sorts today she cant settle and seems really frustrated. She just finished her season and been out for her first run today, the area bothering her seems to be her female bits althoubh she not constantly licking burt seems to be sitting awkwardly and keeps changing position constantly today. She is eating and drinking as normal and her toilet habbits are normal too any one any suggestions?

Ok I was thinking she could have Cold Tail which is like a muscle strain injury at the base of the tail, often caused by swimming, but sometimes simply caused by over exercise or even just over excited wagging. However, now you have mentioned a fishy smell, I'm wondering if her Anal Glands are full and infected. Either will cause discomfort, but Cold Tail will get better on it's own, whereas infected Anal Glands may need flushing out and Antibiotics.
The other thing which crossed my mind is she could have Pyometra (a womb infection). Although usually they are off colour, drinking more or generally "ill" with this, you do get some who show very few symptoms.
If she is still in discomfort and smelling fishy in the morning, I'd get her to the vet.
Ah thanks for that, my friend mentioned she could have broken her tail? she had quite a disturbed night but seems quite well in herself about from her lower area. when i tried to take her down stairs this morning she took few steps then had to lay down its so upsetting will get an appointment and keep you posted many thanks for the support.x

just back and vet a little unsure she has never heard of cold tail. she checked her anal area and was very smelly, she said she had not seen an animail hold her tail in that way and gave her an anti inflamitory injection and said see how she is in 24hrs. She is eating and going toilet normally so fingers crossed she will improve soon. Many thanks to those who replied its a brilliant site for reasurance.

That isn't unusual, even though it's a really common condition. I had one vet want to amputate my Collie's tail, as she thought it was nerve damage . Thank goodness I never listened to her and my Collie kept her wagger until the day she died.
Hopefully now the vet has emptied her anal glands and she has had an Anti Inflam jab, whatever is wrong will right itself.
