Archie and Polly have kibble for breakfast and a mix of kibble and wet meat at tea time. Archie has Laughing Dog kibble. It's not cheap, but it is hypoallergenic and he likes it which for me is the main thing, as he was extremely fussy when he was younger and we tried various dried foods before we got a free sample of this and he loved it. George and Benson will eat absolutely anything, they are not fussy at all Laughing

Just looked at Autarky for the first time and the salmon one looks like a pretty decent food and is half the price of Simpsons. I am so indecisive but I think I will order a bag of the Autarky and see how we go. I can order the Nature Diet from GJWTitmuss at a good price too.

Thanks everyone Smile

Just be careful how you order it Jo - you get free delivery for ND if you order 3 packs but if you add the Autarky on you get delivery charge but if you do that on a seperate order it's free delivery - bizarre but just watch out at the checkout.

Do you have a Costco near you? I'm pretty sure they sell it too for even less than that

Thanks Wendy, I have just experienced what you described at checkout. Ordered 3 x ND, free delivery - added 1 bag of Autarky and the delivery charge changed to £14 - changed it to 2 bags and it went back to free. Didn't actually place the order as I've worked out I have almost 4 weeks worth of JWB and salmon mousse so going to wait til Jan payday.

been reading this thread with interest as I've just been lokoing at what we are feeding Tiber. We are happy wtih him on Burns High Energy Lamb now but I'm interested to know why people feed their dogs a mixture of wet and kibble? Is it just for variety?

Thanks

Annie

Hi Annie, I used to feed just a kibble diet with a tin of tuna mixed in as a treat once a week then Christmas/New Year 2010 Benson was ill. He was sicking up half digested food 9 hours after eating - always 9 hours. This was happening on a daily basis. I've forgotten what tests the vet did but in his opinion Benson had a sensitive area somewhere in his digestive tract and if we couldn't stop the daily vomiting he would have had to go for an endoscopy. We took him off kibble and I fed him tinned Chappie and he would be fine. I would then try and introduce the kibble very slowly, just a few chunks at a time and the sickness would start again so the vet suggested giving him antacid half an hour before food to line his stomach. This worked and eventually we didn't have to use the antacid anymore and we got him up to half kibble and half tinned Chappie which is what i still feed him now.

Now I have digestive problems with George (they both have quite sensitive stomachs) so I want to get them off JWB. I have read really good reviews of Nature Diet wet food on here so thought I would try that but still need a kibble to mix it with. You may have seen above that I was going to try Autarky but have now decided to try Simpson's Salmon and Potato.

I suppose what I'm saying is its a personal choice thing and what's right for one dog isn't right for the next. I think if we hadn't had the problems above my two would still just be on JWB with the occasional treat mixed in. I don't know what you feed Tiber but "if its not broke don't fix it" would be my philosophy Smile

I have Ruby on JWB turkey and veg. It is cereal free with only 20% potato. This has made a massive difference to her hair loss and skin irritation. Allergy tests showed that she was allergic to all grains and slightly to potato. I found JWB contained the least potato in the various potato-based foods.

Hope this helps.

Chloe
