Sorry to read about Ernie, i can imagine how devastated you are, he was way too young.
abscesses are very serious and can soon get infected and become life threatening.
My dad is very ill with stomach cancer, he was given 6 months over 2 years ago. we nearly lost him last week, after an abscess caused septicaemia, he had to have an emergency op at 1-30 in the morning, and the surgeon prepared us for the worse, however, he has come through it and seems to be improving, against all the odds.
It must have seemed Ernie's abscess wasn't too serious at first, it's so sad.
Gary and Toby.
So sorry to read this!
It's awful when you have to make that decision. We had a horse, Copper, who was a fantastic pony! We bought him for my girls when they were 10 and 7 and they loved him to bits! We had to have him pts 8yrs later due to him having Bowel Cancer. It was the most horrendous day I have ever experienced! That was nearly 6yrs ago and I'm now crying about it as I type!
Run free Ernie!!
I never thought abscesses were so serious before. There is a pony who constantly has them. It is so sad that Ernie never had them before and he had to die because of it

Today it really sunk in..Just seeing his tack or the rug that he was wearing really hurt. And it did not help that I overheard someone ask the manager's father where the body is
