As many of you know by now I don't vaccinate my dogs, all my dogs got their puppy jabs and for a few years after Jack got annual boosters, however after 4 years and with the arrival of Maia who was on Homeopathic remedies I stopped.

I can hand on heart say that since then, other then arthritis and normal tummy upsets, NONE of my dogs have had a serious illness, or allergy or skin condition, they don't have fleas or worms either.

For the first 3 years of Jack's life he was wheat intolerant (We were told) and had food allergies, since the age of 5yrs old he has been able to eat anything, is there a correlation? I don't know, but I believe my dogs are healthier for NOT having toxic poisons flooding their systems.

Incidentally, Sam the Homeopath now has a FB page if anyone wants to add her PM me for her FB name

Just to clarify as some have mentioned kennel requirements etc, most vets who booster shouldn't be boostering everything annually at all.

The correct recommended schedule is to only booster everything every 3 years in the UK. The inbetween years are just lepto and parainfluenza boosters.

Personally, as lepto has the shortest validity (approx 6mths) and a healthy dog can cope with parainfuenza anyway I opt to just do a 3yrly full booster and my vets are agreeable with this Smile

I agree with John, it's not clear cut, I suspect obesity, lack of exercise and diet have much to do with the increase in healthproblems and shorter life-span - much like in humans.

The breeder has said that the first and booster injections must be done from the same batch

I was told this by my breeder too but when I checked with my vet (has been a good friend since before she even started at vet school) she said as long as it was by the same manufacturer then it was ok. She gave him his second jab and the batch numbers on his vaccination card are completely different. It might be worth asking your vet first before having to make any long journeys.

See this is where I get a bit cheesed off with vets and vaccine manufacturers, as they just can't all seem to sing off the same hymn sheet Rolling Eyes . I was told different again. Twoee had already had her first puppy jab, but my vets were happy to do the second part even though it was not only a different batch but a different manufacturer too.

How are we, the owners supposed to know what's right and what's wrong, when even the people supposedly in the know, can't agree? Rolling Eyes

And folk wonder why I question EVERYTHING. Wink

if I had a kid they would without a doubt be vaccinated for everything, but the schedule for humans seems far more sensible than the annual bombardment recommended by some for our hounds Rolling Eyes

Yes - I used to think like that too until my daughter was one of the first to have the MMR jab and went through several years of terrible health problems and hospital visits - then of course years the relationship between autism (severe behavioural problems) and bowel problems came to light - but of course these will always be played down.

I wouldn't wish what we went through for about 6 years on anyone, and I know some who suffered much greater and in many instances, lifelong problems for which there are no solutions.

They can't even use the argument that "it was her age" - as Tasha was considerably later than the normal age having hers. I also didn't use the third whooping cough vaccine after reading up much evidence on this being the one that caused the problems.

I never had the BCG and stopped Tasha having it - she really gave me some serious grief - but as we both suffer from eczema I felt it wasn't worth the risk.

She had no option but to have it done when she went nursing - and lo and behold - she went to hell and back on the reaction which lasted far too long Sad

So - the cynic in me is very cautious of vaccines Sad
