Hi all, just wondered what your thoughts were on this?
Bentley was very poorly at the weekend and the vet gave him a jab to stop him being sick and some Canikur. His thoughts were it was some gastro bug - but didn't want to give him antibiotics unless he deteriorated further.
Morgan has now thrown up horendously today - 3 times - huge volumes.
I can't get to the vets til later (car is having some work done)
I've been looking on the internet and have read that some people give their dog Benadryl for sickness.
Would you? Have you?

Sorry to hear Morgan is now not well. Is it likely to be the same thing?
Benadryl does seem to be safe/ok to give to dogs, but only the non decongestant stuff (make sure its only the Diphenhydramine that is the active ingredient).
But, will it react with whatever the vet then may want to give him?
Plus the side effects can be vomiting and diarrhoea, so it may add to his discomfort.
Could a neighbour or friend drop you up to the vets?
Hope he feels better soon
x

Just searching, and Pepto Bismol is recommended for upset stomach in dogs. (now I always associated that with America, but pretty sure you can get that in the UK in teh pink bottles??)
Although I suppose you would need a car to get to teh chemist and therefore defeating the object of not being able to get places at the moment.

Thanks for that xxx
I too thought about whether it would react to anything the vet gave him.
It's just that I have Benadryl in the cupboard.
I gave him some of Bentley's Canikur ... but obvs that came up with the last bout.
Perhaps I'll just wait it out and pop him along later this afternoon (assuming it continues)
Thanks x

Its more than likely he has got whatever Bentley had eh?
So don't feed him, let him have water, but small sips (i know i know, he's a lab ) and just keep an eye. As long as he isnt obviously distressed or in pain, and your sure he hasnt eaten something nasty, getting him to the vet later today will probably be ok.
Its probably more stressful and worrying for you to see him vomit than it is for him.
Ginger is supposed to be good for nausea. Have you got any of that?
