Not surprisingly, the offer of additional prizes for the raffle have been streaming in and there seem to be sooo many. This is great, but it got me thinking, there may be a better way to maximise on the generosity of everyone.

Instead of raffling everything off in one big raffle, I was thinking it might be better if this is split into 2 raffles. The first one being now and then doing a second one at the beginning of June/July. The prizes can then be split between the 2 raffles.

It is just a suggestion - what do you think of this idea? Smile

I think that's an excellent idea Mel !!! Very Happy
It would be great if we could make these raffles a regular thing. It's a great way of raising funds for different Lab' related causes.
Having seen the generosity of everybody, and the quality of the prizes,we'd have no trouble having multiple raffles. Also we'd have no trouble choosing a first prize....just look at Joannes'(Tarimoor-Art) beautiful products !!!
Like everybody else,I'm really looking forward to this raffle...do hope we raise buckets of dosh !!! Very Happy

I will leave it and see what people think, yes we can run 2 raffles, or a raffle and an auction or some other fundraiser, although the more prizes in this one, hopefully should encourage people to buy lots of tickets Very Happy currently there are 3 causes nominated so the more money means we could split it between them instead of having to pick

Sounds good, or an auction? (I know there is more work involved). My thoughts are that people might not buy more tickets for a raffle with many prizes, than a raffle with just one prize just because there are more items?

I would prefer a raffle because I just couldn't compete in an auction - I don't have that sort of money. However, there are so many wonderful prizes that I don't know if we can do them justice by offering tickets to LF members only. A smaller number of ticket sales would mean more chance of a prize but the aim is to raise lots of money so perhaps we should offer them more widely.

I think the problem of having multiple raffles is that the first one or two will be popular and then interest will probably wane.

Please don't do it all on facebook either - I don't have a facebook account.

I like the Idea of two Raffles but think one Raffle a year maybe enough due to interest and goods given but I am open to any choice I also think it is a good Idea to open it further than LF then you raise a lot more but maybe the entries still come through the member for example if we used names on tickets then it would be say marie C/O cheryl LF member I would transfer the money and handle the transaction but my friend gets to enter does this sound Ok just an idea

I think opening it up to more is a good idea Very Happy A chance to raise more funds and still believe a raffle is the best way to go over an auction.

My thinking behind going for the 2 raffles though is because someone may only be able to afford £2 now and could afford another £2 later in the year ... double the money for the year. I know it isn't as simple as that, but that was my basic principal behind the idea.

The date of the next raffle could also be pushed out to September/October, in time for Christmas when rescues really need it Smile

There used to be a rescue of the month, did that stop?

The only reason I haven't offered a portrait this time round, is that I've already got two on the go for other organisations, although I will in the future offer them on LF again. Embarassed

I like the raffle over auction, and if it is given long enough and opened up to others then it gives everyone time to buy more as the time go's buy and see's what is in the raffle, some may buy more over a few weeks, [ I will anyway ].

Must admit though I am not into face book Embarassed .

I'm not on facebook either Embarassed I think a raffle would be a fairer option to everyone and may raise more. It will also give more people the oportunity to contribute. I must admit I don't personally think that more prizes in one raffle will discourage sales and think the opposite. LF is a massive community, look at the membership figures. Whilst not all these members are necessarily active, a good number are. Having multiple prizes increases the chance of winning something. I would love to win something but my initial thought is that I am giving to a very worthwhile cause, geting involved and a win is definitely a bonus.

Doing a raffle soon and one say Nov/early December time is a good idea. It does not dilute the cash raised between frequent smaller ones. It also then does not lose the impact of having such lovely prizes as if run too frequent is more likely to become the norm and overlooked (hope this makes sense)

just my thoughts ...
