I fostered many years ago before I had the children and recently decided I wanted to start again despite having so many things against me,four children, six dogs already and a pain in the backside medical condition but I gritted my teeth and applied and was accepted!
The joy it brings to myself and the children is immense,Ive got to meet lots of lovely people and have seen frightened, bemused dogs turn into confident, happy dogs heading off to their new homes, theres no feeling like it!
Yes its sometimes hard, days when your walking around with a mop in youre hand due to tummy troubles or little accidents or a favourite goes off to their new home and you shed a little tear or two at your loss and their gain, but then the next one arrives and off you go again.
Please anyone who thinks they might like to foster, even if you think you may be turned down, apply to one of the many rescues and if you do get turned down apply to another all have their own rules and you can bet someone will be glad of your offer and youll be so glad you did.

Hi there,

I am looking at homing a lab, I have a young daughter so need to think about her....

If anyone knows of a dog suitable for Children then do let me know... I've been looking for a long time now with no success and I know there is a dog out there for us.

No idea if they have any suitable labs at the moment, but LRSE&C covers your area (looks like you're in Surrey?):

Whereabouts are you Nealy? I'm not sure where Kenilworth is, sorry.

Not all dogs are best buddies from the start though, sometimes it takes a while for them to bond - as long as they don't hate each other of course, which wouldn't be fun.

Have you tried any Lab rescues or other rescues? I wouldn't rule out a slightly older dog - we adopted a 9 week old pup when my older dogs were aged 8-9 and it's worked out fantastically Smile
