Right here goes, we have rescued a number of dogs over the years 7 GSDs 2 Rotties and a Great Dane who passed way with heart problems last Feb at 4yrs. That was it no more dogs.... but here we are looking again we were going to have 2 pups but Honey has just lost here litter following an attack by a swarm of bees.
So here we are looking again at rescue dogs, this time we want a couple of youngsters other than that we arent bothered, YES we have a 4yr old daughter (its a long story), her brother and sister now in there 20s were brought up around all these resue dog and never had a problem. We have never had a puppy and had a chance from honey but that was not to be.
So IF we can find a rescue that will accept us and our 4yr old and they have a couple of youngsters we will see if we can help but then there is the other problem we live in the far north of Scotland 45miles North of Inverness and many rescue dont have the help up here to home visit etc but we are up for a try.
Rescue dog and Children go together fine just remember......
There NO bad Dogs......... Just BAD Owners ....... 40yrs of dog ownership says so
If you need help in locating a suitable pup/dog from rescue, please send me you email and contact number via PM, I know IRR do rehome to Scotland and if we can't get a homechecker due to distance they ask for Vet references and 1 other.
were based on an island just off the west coast of scotland we are looking to offer a dog it's forever home but in the mean time we could foster or help with transport ~ we also travel down south sometimes so we could help with bringing some up for all the people who seem to want to foster in scotland.
Were self employed and can either take our dog into our shop or one of us can stay at home if needed we have a 10 yearold son and a semi secure garden < were working on this> were 5 mins for the beach and also from the woods.
I've also had GSD Springers and a Lab over the course of my life so we do know dogs.
we were ment to be rescuing a dog today but the owner decided to keep it < good for the dog> so were sitting all set
I asked my OH yesterday about fostering. He said he couldn't face giving the dog up at the end. The reason the topic came up was we have been talking again about rehoming a lab. We have talked about this many times but being waiting for the right time. Truffs has her first birthday on the 12th and the time now feels better to start looking. We spoke to 2 ladies from our local Lab rescue yesterday. They have a black lab coming in this weekend called Sam. He needs to be assessed by his fosterers first. He comes from a family with 3 children. The mum is very poorly with terminal cancer and the dad has to work full time. I struggled to keep the tears back. We don't know what will come of this. The local lab rescue has lots of checks etc in place so we feel confident everything will be done for the very best.
On the fostering side I am going to say "Never say never" and work on OH for the future!
I am putting this to the top of the forums again, there are a number of Oldies in Kennels at the moment and they desperately need a cosy fire and a soft bed for their old bones.
Could you give them that?
Oldies make smashing companions, need very little, but give back lots, by fostering one of these oldies you will be making a world of difference, not only for THAT dog, but it frees up a space for another dog to be brought into rescue.
