Luna was nearly called Cookie! It became a nickname - Smart Cookie!

There are lots and lots and lots of tips in the Puppy Forum section - have a read of the 'biting' thread, 'crate training' thread and zillions of other useful threads!!!

My big tip is 'take lots of photos!' they grow so quickly!

And when it comes to training be consistent and simple especially as there will be lots of trainers in your house!!!

Hello and welcome.

The stickies in the puppy section have a fountain of knowledge about what to buy, what to expect from puppies and loads of tips on training etc.

As for food, you will be best to keep cookie on the same food that the breeder has been feeding him. To start with anyway. If you choose to change, then it's best to do it very gradually over a couple of weeks.

Whichever food you choose will depend on your budget, how easy it is to get, what is convenient for you, what cookie likes or will tolerate (some ingredients don't always suit all dogs because of allergies, intolerances etc).

Some good brands, which have a good balance of ingredients your pup needs are
Wainwrights
Simpsons
James well beloved
Burns
Ardent grange
Orijen

To name a few.
You want to look for meat or fish as the first in the list of ingredients. Avoid brightly coloured kibbles (bakers spring to mind).

Good luck, I know how exciting it is waiting for your new family member.

Stacey x

Hello and welcome to you all.

My girls are all fed on a variety of Arden Grange kibbles. There is a puppy version, but you should continue on his current food for a bit, while he settles into his new home and gets used to new surroundings.

Welcome to the forum - what an exciting time.

There are lots of things to get and learn but everything you need to know is covered in the stickies at the top of the puppy section, on top of that you need to subscribe to LF, its the best £10 you'll ever spend and save you a fortune trust me!

Ok to start off with please don't change your pup's food give Cookie whatever the breeder is currently feeding because with all the changes of coming home his tummy could be easily upset if you decide to change food do it in a few weeks time when he's settled in with you and do it slowly over days not in one go or you'll give him tummy ache and or diarrohea which won't be nice for either of you. Read this thread - http://www.labradorforums.co.uk/ftopict-83059.html

You will also do yourself a big favour if you read these - some are a big long but very much worth it
