Nooooo course he wont - as long as you find a good one!

Why dont you try him just over night in the one you decide in - it will break him in gently and then when he goes in for your hols, he'll know you are coming back for him. xxx

Hi
I know I don't even have my puppy yet but I have a 3 week summer holiday booked ! My guilt only goes so far as I need a holiday.

If you have had from a puppy then it may be worth asking the breeder if they have family back for holidays.

Otherwise book a day at a local kennels and just see how that goes, most of them take day visitors.

Up until we got Jack, all our dogs have gone into kennels if we went abroad. Jack is blind and had never been in kennels, so I thought that it would be too much stress for him to go into one, even though he would have Cherry for company. We now put them in homeboard with a lady through Petpals. They have company for the time we're away and are very happy when we return.
There was never a problem leaving our others in kennels and I would not hesitate to do so again.
You can always have a "trail run" for a night or two, to see how they get on, but it does give peace of mind to know they are safe and happy while you are gone.

He won't hate you Wink

But....I'm far too soft to encourage you! Purely because I've never used kennels. We used to go abroad when Jessie was alive. She used to stay at my sister's house and I'd return the favour and look after her dog when they went on holiday. Now we have two and she has two plus she works strange hours as they now have their own business, it's not something I'd feel comfortable doing. I feel the girls would be left for too long, as her dogs are (in my opinion)

Sooo.....holidays in the UK and hopefully travelling in to Europe with the girls for us in the future. xxx

Aaw don't worry, he definitely won't hate you, but it is important to find a kennels that you trust and are really comfortable with.

Our girls have always gone in kennels since they were very little and they love it, they get so excited when we pull up there and they go in with not even a backwards glance, whilst I am always nearly in tears!

He wont hate you.

Ive never left Indi for longer than a long weekend and with friends. I have a funeral soon and will have to go back and she will have to have a holiday with friends. But in a few months when my husband gets back from afghan she will have to go into kennels as he is taking me to New York and all our friends who have dogs have husbands away and will be back at the same time so no one to look after her. I know I will feel incredibly guilty as she has never gone into a kennels and I havent left her for long before especially with her daddy being gone too. But sometimes it does them and you good to be apart and im sure after a day or so he will forgive you!

We've always got someone to house/dog sit when we are away. Ensures the house is occupied and the dog is looked after. We also have rabbits and so it's easier for us to do this.

Have you thought about a pet Carers, who look after dogs in their home.Tara has been going to Pet Carers since a pup.She absolutely loves them and they love her. When we arrive at their house she pulls to go in.I used to feel guilty, but because she loves to go to them, don't feel so bad.Good luck with whatever you do.

I have always used kennels and have no problem with them. You must find a kennel that you feel comfortable with. We put Charlie into the kennel for a week-end taster and she was fine. Then we left her for two weeks while we went on holiday. No problems at all. When the kennel lady brought her out to us and then went to say goodbye, Charlie was looking at her as if to say "arn't you coming home too".

Do your research and Teddy will be fine. The only bit I hate is actually leaving her, but once I have left then I am fine Very Happy

Oh and I forgot to add I take Charlie's own food, weighed out into plastic bags for each meal. That way she doesn't have any change of food and upset tums.

I also take her bedding and lots of her toys Laughing Laughing
