This morning we said goodyear to our elderly cat Albie. Albie was a White stray who decided to move in with us 9 years ago, he spent a month or so living in our garden and our son Luke started feeding him, one day he walked into our house took a look around and decided to stay.
Albie was never what you could call handsome, he had an overshot jaw, a slightly deformed back and wonky legs, he was pure white and had never learned to clean himself he certainly would never win an beauty prizes. We loved him very much, over the last year his age had slowed him down and he lost weight, tests were inconclusive and we decided to let him be, he was too old to be pulled around, he wasn't in pain he was eating and happy. This morning we knew it was time to let him go.
So dear old Albie I hope you are playing at the bridge, that you are once again young and strong. We will never know what happened to you before you adopted us but I hope you know how much we loved you.
