Well done sounds like a great first lesson You tend to find the dogs pick up quickly what they have to do its us humans that take a good while longer
Im a total agility addict, starting out for fun I now run a competition club with my friend, spend at least two weekends a month away at shows throughout the year (more if I can squeeze them in so hubby doesn't notice lol) camping in the summer. Bell loves it and knows when we are going to a show as waits next to the bag Ive packed the night before. Im hoping to start some foundation training with my 6 month old cocker spaniel soon can't wait as fingers crossed this time I will actually know what Im doing when it comes to training lol
I wear golf shoes with the plastic grippers as our best runs are when Im really running right up with Bella so need to make sure I can get a good grip to keep me upright.
We're on a rubber surface riding school at the moment so my Wellies should serve me well I think Plus they're extremely comfy and I don't care if they get dirty.
I'll have to try and get some videos of us in a couple weeks time, a friend said she wanted to come and watch so will be an ideal opportunity!
Well done Digger, sounds like a great start. As others have said - watch out, you will rapidly be hooked.
On the footwear question I wear walking trainers with ankle support in an indoor school or in the mud - they have good grip and I don't get bits inside the shoe! In the summer I wear Inov8 Roclite trail shoes. The more proficient you get the more you will want to be able to run fast and turn on a sixpence so good grip is essential. A lot of people at our club with super fast collies wear football boots in the winter!
He's getting the idea of jumping over the jumps now and running on but does still wait for me - I think I need to run quicker!! He's still good at the tunnel We did lots of little jump and tunnel courses which I was pleased with. He still needs me nearish the jumps but he is getting the idea.
We also did a front cross today which he was also fine with. I love how he's so focused on where I am that as long as he understands what I want of him he picks it up quick.
Our main aim now is to get him jumping over jumps ahead of me if I send him on but I'm sure that will come in time.
We also started learning the contacts. He walked along the dog walk plank laid flat on the floor to food at the end and had to stand with his back feet on the contact point. Digger was a little too motivated by the food and therefore kept falling off the plank in his excitement to get to the end! But he did get the hang after a couple of goes. I'm now on the look out for a nice piece of wood we can practice on.
We also started the see-saw by learning that when he put his front feet on the end the see-saw pushed down, he got a treat everytime he pushed it down.
He's still enjoying it and is listening to me which is good and is definately picking things up well. So I'm pleased with my little chap and we'll definatley keep going

Digger is definitely a star in the making by the sounds of it
I am hitting the gym three times a week now, so by March when Millie and I start, I should be fit enough for her
Definitely looking forward to it. (Even though today when I thought I would run her through her disciplines, she looked as though she had never heard the word 'down' in her life before. Naughty naughty Millie
____________ Gillian, Millie & Arya, watched over by Becky, Arwen & Amber from the Bridge. Run fast & free
