i am feeding twice a day casper and peppa, but peppa night time toilet training is a nightmare shes now 6 mths old and will soil cage i still get up during night and still odd night she has soiled.
ive been told by a few people now to just feed her once a day and that should sort her for toilet training.
i take her out at 9pm and she will do all her stuff poos and wees.. i then nip down at around 11 and again will do all her stuff wees and poos again,
is that to much pooing?
she poos over day 3-4 times as well.
im not to keen on this but what do others do?

casper is brilliant and wont do anything in his at all hes now 1yrs.

we have even bought her one of them dishes so slow her down at eating as she goes mad for it and eats it so fast. but i havent seen much difference,

Hi Smile I have always fed mine twice a day and I found that an early tea helped with the night time toilet training. What time do you feed her tea?

Jessie is 7months old and is fed 3x a day still, she is on simpsons premium jnr food.

she is fed at 07:30, 13:30 and 19:30(150g per feed)

she has been clean at night since introducing the crate about 3-4mths ago.
Jessie poos about 2-3times a day, last one being at 6:30 on her walk

oh to add that she is fed in just a normal bowl and eats all meals in less than 10seconds !!!!!

Quick q, what is her poo like? Is it hard or soft? Sometimes if their food has a lot of fillers in it they produce more poo as less ofthe food is bsorbed into the body. You could try feeding earlier, we found that really helped our pup. We feed our 7 month old George using a kong wobbled as he wolfs his food down and it keeps him occupied for about 20min, as he has to hunt for the bits he has missed.

We feed George twice a day 6:30am and again at 6pm and he produces 2 poos a day. When he was smaller he was pooing almost eveytime he went to the loo (being fed 3/4times a day on eukanuba) after we changed his food his poos firmed up and he went less often.

Sorry, I failed to say that I fed mine 3 times a day at that age, but got it down to twice a day eventually.

I would have thought one meal a day would be too much for a pup in one go?

Maybe her food doesn't suit her if she is going for poos that often? Just a thought Smile

Is it possible she is getting a little to much food, or as others say maybe the food is not suiting her.

I wouldn't ever feed a dog once a day unless they decided they only want to eat once a day - particularly for a dog who is still growing, as she very much is.

I was also going to ask, as others have, if you are feeding her too much and what you are feeding her as some feeds will produce more "waste" than others, due to quality of ingredients.

When you take her out for the last toilet trip before bedtime, do you go with her to make sure she is actually going?

I feed fudge twice a day due to work.

She is generally like clockwork, up in the morning, have her breakfast, out for a pee and poo then for a walk. She can stay in her crate all day with no mess tho very rarely she would be in it all day.

Then feed her at tea time and she had a poo etc soon after.

She can stay in the house from 9/10pm until 8am with no issues of poo or pee anywhere.

She is about 6 1/2 months now.

If you are saying she poos about 5-6 times a day then I'd consider that too many times and would change her food.

I consider 1 poo per meal, plus a possible one more, a normal amount for them to go.

I had a pup here who pooed 8-10 times a day on 3 meals, as soon as I changed her food to one with less fillers in, she went right down to pooing 3 times a day at regular times. It's sometimes amazing what a difference, better food makes. Wink

I also wouldn't put a growing pup on only one meal. It will overload it's stomach and much of the food will pass through without being fully digested, so it will miss out on vital nutrition.

Sounds like a lot of poos to me.

Here is Lottie's routine. Out 7am wee and poo then breakfast (80g Arden Grange) Then snooze for 2 hours while I am at work..out for main walk (another poo) or sometimes 2 consecutive walks with clients dogs..then lunch (80g)

Tea is at 5 and another 80g. A last wee and short walk at about 9 or 10 then bed.

Yes I do feed her 3 times a day just because I can and it suits her well.

So 240g food (but she is almost 4) 2 poos and has gone all night clean since 10 weeks old.

I'd take a look at the food and quantity you are feeding and maybe feed tea earlier. Also go outside and make sure she is going before bed!

Barbara xx

Good luck xx
