We give George one fish4dogs fish skin whoppa everyday before bed, and half a carrot a day as a treat that he loves to play with before eating, and he has no tartar or hint of bad breath. Not tried the dentastix personally but I haven't heard many good things about them.
Are there any bones you shouldn't give, other than cooked/pork bones? I was speaking to a random lady at our local park who said you should avoid giving them marrow or leg bones too often as it wears their teeth down, and that spinal, ribs and shoulder blades are much softer but will still keep their teeth clean. George loves bones and occasionally gets a lamb shank which will keep him occupied for ages and the bone will last him for days. He isn't much of a chewer so would the stag bars be any good? Not seen them in real life but heard good things about them.

Love em or hate em - I guess that's why there is so many different foods on the market ! Fortunately I'm sensible enough to realise that giving my dogs this treat is not going to make them diabetic, mean I'm feeding them cardboard, be stopping them from absorbing other nutrients or dehydrating them, etc ! Slightly over excited commentary probably bordering on slandering the company involved.
Not at all, I think in any case it would be libel
Besides, there's nothing wrong with a bit of recycled cardboard, I remember someone asking me if I knew where to get dog-edible Christmas Paper......I replied "the shops".
Dentistix are kind of like the Pepparami of the dog world.
Don't think there's any harm in giving them as a treat now and again, but probably not a good idea to give them every day as suggested in the advertising blurb.
Remember "A Mars a day helps you work rest and play!"
How true is that? Not very, it's just a way of selling more stuff. But everyone knows Mars Bars are for treats only, not as part of a daily healthy diet.
I fell for the advertising too many years ago, but quickly realised that the house stunk like an old Courtaulds factory and the epicentre was Ivan. They're not the best thing for cleaning labs' teeth anyway, they don't last long enough to even touch the teeth most of the time

As an aside, of course all of Santa's reindeers are female (even Rudolph!) because only the stags shed their antlers before Winter. Might have known you can't trust a man to navigate around the world without satnav!

So now he gets Pedigree Jumbone. At first I got him the small ones. It took him a long time to eat it all. Now he flies through the large one
I would be careful feeding a large jumbone to such a young pup - if you read the packet it says something like it being 1/3 of the daily food needs of a 30kg dog (I don't have one to check - but it's something like that) - I don't give my *adult* dogs a large jumbone because I don't want them to have that much junk food!

I have a great butcher who saves me a regular weekly order of a bag of chicken carcasses and a bag of lamb bones for the princely sum of £1 for the both of them. I'm the last of the big spenders
Mine love them and god forbid we run out of them, they always have one after their evening dinner and will sit at the cupboard door and wait until they get one and no other treat will be accepted.
I do now give them the small dog ones due to the high calories rather than the ones for Labrador or Large dog size

Oh dear. That is me in the "not sensible enough" camp - again!!
Slander is a slightly grey area perhaps, but we discuss the pros and cons of many different brands of dog food and treats on here. If you don't state the name of the product then how would anyone know what you were talking about? People won't stop buying the big name products from the supermarkets just because they are criticised on here (and also on many other online pet forums, as LF is not alone).
