Yes,yes and yes...disgusting. I used to give them to Lottie but stopped very quickly. She also put about a kilo on in a very short time while she had them.

It does make me laugh that they say they'll get rid of plaque....how exactly when they've been demolished in 3 seconds because they are so soft
I bought them for Charlie a few weeks ago. He kept choking on them =/ So now he gets Pedigree Jumbone. At first I got him the small ones. It took him a long time to eat it all. Now he flies through the large one
____________ Sarah and her Labs.. Charlie(04/09/11), Marley(11/04/10) and Coco(21/02/09).
They don't last as long but mine just get carrots, as I got so fed up of panicking when they nearly choked from being too greedy. Also our x pointer gets a little aggressive when he has raw hide type treats.
Luna used to get one daily to clean her teeth but they took her a couple of minutes to chomp and then I saw the calorie content of them somewhere online and realised why she was gaining weight at a rate of knots!! The equivalent of a Mars Bar!
I don't buy them for the dogs anymore but they get bought them every so often by family so I stash them to give at agility comps or after GTs/lots of swimming to boost the energy levels again! And being mean I split them so they get half each!
Same here, too easy to chomp through them and they gave Maisy a bad belly. Now I give her the Pedigree DENTA rasks, they contain grains of rice in and are much more abrasive for teeth cleaning and take her far longer to munch her way through (relatively speaking of course!).
We tend just to her one of these a week, as they have a high energy content.
I stopped giving on a regular basis when I looked into the ingredients. They do still get them as a rare treat but not for any teeth benefit. A nice bone once or twice a week keeps teeth clean. Here are the worst ingredients of Dentastix, no wonder the dogs are trumping mustard gas!
Rice flour: Cheap filler, causes bowel distress and can lead to diabetes in dogs.
Glycerin: Sweetens food, used as humectant (keeps food moist), interferes with nutrient absorption
Gelatin: Filler / binder in can food.
Gum arabic: Cheap filler/binder used in can foods.
Cellulose Powder: Suspected to include recycled cardboard.
Natural poultry flavor: Poor quality of flavor additive.
Sodium tripolyphosphate: Used as rancid meat preservative.
Salt: Used to cover up rancid meat and fat, can cause kidney and heart disease, hypertension -- used to encourage pers to drink, source of sodium chloride.[/img]

A bone once or twice a week is much better for the dog, keeps their teeth clean and also helps with anal glands when the extra firm poo puts in an appearance
