Well i am finally back! Laptop has been in repair shop for awhile.
Hope you all had a great christmas and wishing you all the best for 2012.
If anyone remembers, Charlie had an x ray at the vets in November which revealed ED. He has been taking his meds and seems to be coping ok with it all.
Charlie has gone to Rutland House today for a scan so we can decide what to do for the best ie surgery or medication or both!
I felt very sad for him, no breakfast (he wasn't happy with that), i wouldn't let any of the kids eat this morning, i sent them on their way to school with some brioche, it didn't seem right for us to eat in front of him lol.
They will be keeping him overnight which im a bit nervous about as he only ever stays with good friend of ours if we go away (they treat him like a baby and he loves it)!
So please send us some positive vibes for the best outcome possible

Emma, welcome back,i remember you posting about Charlie.Glad hes coping well, you must be very proud of him.Poor boy having no breakfast,i bet he was traumatised. Will be thinking of you both, good luck and get better soon brave boy. Please keep us updated xxxxxxxx
Well Charlie should be going under now (they said lunchtime?)
Im more concerned now as when vet examined him there charlie was slightly limping on his other leg, they will now scan both. We didn't realise that they will operate there and then if they feel it would benefit him
They will call us whilst Charlie is still under the GA to tell us the results and their intentions.
Just had the call from vets, after scanning both front legs they have confirmed his right elbow is bad, luckily the left leg is ok after them suspecting it was both legs. They are currently operating on him now, we cant have him home until tomorrow evening
Missing my Charlie chops already but i know its the best for him.
If anyone has any tips on looking after him over the next few days and what to expect please share x
Are they doing an arthroscopy? If so Charlie had one.
He had some floating bone removed, loose bits shaved off and a general tidy up
He will also have his elbows shaved.
Charlie was on total rest to start with and then on lead walks - 3x5 mins per day building up by 2 mins per walk per day.
Each specialist has slightly different aftercare so be guided by him.
Laura's Luna has recently had this done and Luna is back to her normal bouncy self now
Hope Charlie is ok after his elbow operation. Lottie has a bad right elbow too but, touch wood, hasn't needed surgery. I remember your post. At least the fact that they have operated straightaway meant that you had no time to get too worried.
I was going to mention Laura's Luna too but Wendy already did.I'm sure you'll get lots of advice later on how to keep Charlie rested and happy.
aww poor Charlie, I'm sure they will do everything to make him as comfy and happy as possible though, will they let you see him tonight even though he can't come home until tomorrow or do they think he'll be too sleepy/upset?
Whenever Sam has a GA he feels really cold afterwards so maybe wash some cuddly blankets in case you need them. You could get a new toy or something that will keep him quietly entertained for a couple of days if he's not allowed to do much. If the entry to your car is high maybe you need to take someone with you when you fetch him to help carry him to the car and/or lift him in and out, carrying a dog and openng doors at the same time can be tricky!
