After putting it off for several months, I finally bitten the bullet and booked Mojo in for castration. He's going in first thing tomorrow and I'll admit I'm bricking it. He was 2 at the end of last year, and after umming and ahhing over whether to get him done due to trying to work out if his occasional dog-aggression was down to being intact or fear and whether having him chopped would improve him or make things worse, I decided that if it stopped him cocking his leg on me and other women (doesn't do it to men ever) then that was a huuuge benefit lol!

Anyway - he's going in tomorrow. After trying to hump his friend Akaya yesterday in the park, and then attacking this poor little Westie I really hope this does fix things.

One quick question as I can't remember - am I allowed to feed him his evening meal? He's due to go in at 8.50am tomorrow morning. When does the "nil by mouth" thing kick in for dogs? Am I right in thinking it's no water after midnight but don't know when the "last meal" thing is?

Thanks Smile

Thank you Smile. I'll give it to him a bit earlier than usual I think... just to be sure.

Good luck Mojo. Buddie was fine when he had his op. It has made no difference to his personality. He just sniffs a little less and we never had a problem with him cocking his leg.
My only problem was him getting hold of his painkillers and eating them all, then having to have injection to make him sick the next day!

Sure all will be fine. He had his last meal at 6pm the night before his op. x

The castration may help with Mojo`s aggression against other dogs but it doesn`t always, it will take a while though for all the male hormones to leave his body, also remember they can still sire pups for around 6 months after castration.
