Flippin' Heck!
Our Meile Cat & Dog vaccuum, which is our saviour from living a life knee deep in pet hair (3 dogs, 3 cats) has just died!
I was happily vaccumming away in the living room and it suddenly just turned itself off! I have changed the bag, given it 20 minutes and tried again, but I think it's soul has departed this earth
I've only had the thing about 15 months and advocated it as the best hoover we've ever had!
Now what? Do I turn to Dyson? *gulp*

Whatever you do don't give up on your Miele, the best vacuum in the world! Ring the helpline or try find someone to mend it. I've had mine over 4 years and I clean 6 houses a week with it and have never had a problem once. It'll be something really simple I bet you.
Good luck
Barbara xx
Jane ,have you checked the filters aren't full of dirt. This will cause it to overheat and cut off. There is normally a new filter in the hoover bag box...just a thought.

As the vacuum cleaner is less than six years old, I would suggest you write to the retailer quoting 'Sales of Goods Act', keeping a copy for yourself. The vacuum is 'must be fit for purpose.' Clearly it isn't and you should give them(the retailer who will probably try to fob you off with ridiculous excuses) a time limit as to repairing or replacing the vacuum.
*key fact is that your relationship in the Sale of Goods Act is with the retailer, not the manufacturer.*
I know it doesn't solve the immediate problem, it will take a few weeks and you'll need a vacuum in that time .... A spare is always handy (says she with three).
Copies of all communication should be kept if you need to report the matter the Trading Standards
Sale of Goods Act
My initial horror on reading the title turning to a smile on recognising it was the vacuum. RIP Miele. My Dyson DC01, mark 1 did similar over Christmas but it was more than 10 years old and had received many a resuscitation over it's hard working life. We have now got ourselves a new Dyson, mark DC25 which was born only a matters of days ago. Definitely more agile than the older retired model, so DC01 must have been suffering more than we thought, bless it. DC25 also has an amazing pick up and retrieve I didn't realise two labs could hide hair in so many places
