As you all know, or most of you anyway.
11 months ago we bought home Buddie, our first ever dog.
We discussed it for many years and decided the time was right and he has so changed our lives for the better. Since then we now also have 4 month old Honey so we have our hands full. lol.
However I have just sat down with a cuppa after a long walk up on the hills in the woods with the dogs, My eldest daughter (nearly 20) and my nieces aged 9 and 5. We had an incredible time and came home muddy, tired but totally relaxed and happy.
I just thought I think this is the favourite part of owning the dogs, fresh air, exercise and actually talking to each other with no tv,computer etc.
By the way this is a once a week romp for Honey she only has little walks the rest of the time.
I wonder what everyone elses favourite thing is?
Definately Mel, Buddie was not impressed when he got to the field to see no Shadow or Bella. In fact he was quite put out and kept looking back as we walked towards the track.
Even Beky noticed his reaction. We will get together as soon as Bella is Ok. My nieces are very excited about going up there with 4 dogs!!
We're the same; most of the time I do all the dog-walking, but on a weekend when hubby isnt, we walk together. Sundays are great days for me because when hubby isnt working we go together, give the dogs a really good long walk before Rosie goes to fly-ball; and then we come home to a nice roast dinner. Usually I top it off with a bottle of red in the afternoon.
Exercise releases endorphins that make you feel good; so I think its that plus the satisfaction of knowing the dogs have had a really good time too that makes it feel so great!

I suppose I take the fresh air and exercise thing for granted a bit, as I've always had dogs, or horses, or dogs and horses, so going out in all weathers to enjoy myself is just part of life. I do love it though. I love watching them run and swim and play tag, just being free to be dogs, while I march along with them as part of their gang.
I do also love the companionship they give me 24/7. The attention, the cuddles, the love. I need to be needed, so looking after them fulfils that basic nurturing instinct in me.
I love that they understand me even when I don't speak and I love watching the way they interact together and with other dogs.
I love that when I'm out with them, people stop to chat to me and the girls. No one talks to a person walking on their own, do they, yet with a well behaved dog or 4 at your side, you tend to be popular .
The only thing I don't love is the amount of fur they shed everywhere and the constant hoovering (Note to self... In future have more Poodles and less Labs).
I thought my hoover had packed up today!!! Disaster, until hubbie said I may need to clean the filter. A filter???? I said, I have never cleaned a filter before. To which he replied "you have never had 2 moulty hairy labradors before!!" lol.
Well, for me,it's not only being out in the fresh air whatever the weather. It's the gratitude a dog shows at being out there with you.
Kenko comes bounding and skipping up to me,tongue hanging out,big smile, and flings himself at me with his muddy paws. But I don't mind because he's so damn happy...and me too !!! I just couldn't live without my Kenko, being as I'm on my own.

I agree with all of the above, the dirtier, wetter and muckier we both get,the happier i am.I love it when the kids are at school and its just me and Ted and the great outdoors x
I don't think I can really add much more. I love the walks especially through the woods. To see them bounding in the deep fresh show or jumping into the water. The welcome in a morning as if they have missed you forever. Unconditional love apart from food, cuddles and walks (in any order). Don't even mind the wind any more so it must be love

Love it when I'm walking along and turn round to see where Max is and see him trotting along to catch me up or when he's up in front and then turns round and waits till I catch him up. Love it that he always licks my hand before he trots off again.
Really love it when he runs off to say hello to another dog/person and I toot on the whistle and he comes running straight back to me. Makes me so proud of him.
Also love it when I get out of bed in the morning say "come on then" and he bounds round, tail wagging for some mummy cuddles.
Just love my dog to bits.
Nearly forgot, love to see him running through the biggest, deepest, muddiest puddles he can find when he looks at me with that happy face as if he's done something REALLY good.
