Is it Metacam or Rimadyl that can affect the liver in some dogs?? If the liver is being irritated that could cause vomiting. I would ask your vet especially if he's been taking them quite regularly.

My 5 year old Lab has dreadful ED and arthritis and was on Cartrophen injections, he hasn't had them since the summer as they irritated his stomach and he was getting bouts of colitis every couple of weeks. I now manage him on natural remedies and he's doing ok. Certainly as good as on the Cartrophen and he's a happier dog. I guess I would be miserable if I kept getting an upset stomach!

I think it is all NSAIDs that can cause upsets in some dogs - some suit some dogs, others other dogs.

Luna seems ok on Metacam/Meloxidyl and Carprieve/Carprofen. I have some rimadyl in the cupboard that I was given for her but never used.

I have never had Luna on anything other than Glycoflex 3 since she was a year old - just a few days of metacam if she couldn't shake a limp with only rest. Now I know she has HD, ED and arthritis but she doesn't show obvious signs of discomfort I am experimenting with giving her anti-inflams for a week and then will take her off them to see if there is any difference in behaviour or energy...
