Molly did something similar last year and it took a while to heal. It happened at a weekend so I just dealt with it myself but the vet said it would have been better if I had brought her when I told him. I found that it kept opening up again even with on lead visits to the garden. To stop this I would push the edges together and bind the paw with that padded roll of cotton wool stuff you get from the vets. I then covered it in one of those bandages that sticks to itself, covered it with a sock (held in place with velcro cable ties - keeps the sock on great!). She couldn't go on walks for a while and I had to keep her on the lead in the garden as she would bound off and open the wound up again.
On hindsight I think it would have healed a lot faster if I had taken her to the vet straight away with such a deep cut.
