Holly has just started having fits too, which the vet is pretty sure is epilepsy. She had the first in September, then nothing (that we know of) until just before Christmas when she had another one.
Both times have been when she is resting and have lasted about 2 minutes. Afterwards she has been very sleepy (although to be honest she is often sleepy, if she isn't eating or going for a walk) and a bit quiet. She had just turned 4 years old when she had the first one.
I worry that she might be having them at night when she is on her own, but as she hasn't lost control of her bladder in either of them there would probably be no obvious signs for us to know if has been happening.
It seems it is quite common and we just need to get used to it and make sure we are doing the right thing for her when it happens (just keeping her calm and gently stroking and reassuring her until it is over). Our grown up children were home for Christmas and my daughter was very upset after witnessing the second one. Jess (who is 2) was lying next to her the second time and seemed very frightened and slunk off to another room until it was over and we could reassure her too.
