I couldn't wait to see the back en of 2011 but the introduction to 2012 came with Buddy having a seizure which we all witnessed. I posted about his first ?? seizure a couple of weeks ago, but this time he ws definitely fitting.

My daughter was about to take him for a walk and as he was coming towards her, he just fell onto his side and began seizing for about 3 or 4 minutes... eyes, mouth open but pulled back as if his facial muscles were contracting with his front and back legs paddling and shaking.
My husband protected his head and gently stroked him and then as suddenly as it started, it ended and he got up and wagged his tail, oblivious of the fuss he had just caused.
Just edited to add that I have contacted his breeder.
Now in human terms this may be considered a petit mal seizure. We now wonder if these are possibly being triggered by 'excitement' because he was about to go for his walkies and last time my hubby was about to feed him.
He has since been himself, but as the vets have been closed over the New Year weekend, I will be taking him tomorrow.
Very distressing though. How common is epilepsy in labs if this is epilepsy?
Sorry to hear that Buddy has had another seizure, I am sure his breeder will be able to offer good advice and JohnW is also a great source of knowledge with health issues
will pm you my number..... not labs but I have had dogs who have fitted for different reasons and it may help you to talk to someone who has been through it.
I'm sorry that Buddy has had another seizure. It sounds like a grand mal fit to me. ((((Hugs)))) for you all.
My parents' last lab had epilepsy from puppyhood, and took medication for life. He lived happily, and otherwise healthily until the age of 15. He was a grand ol' doggy, loving and loved by all.
So sorry Buddy has had another fit. Unfortunately I have no personal experience, but am aware of a couple of rescue dogs that suffer and live normal lives through medication. It is good to see that you are getting support from owners with experience. I'll just send you a for you and Buddy
