Billy my cocker just had his willy out Shocked he's entire and theres a bitch nearby in season so wasn't overly concerned when he was really unsettled, but it stayed out the whole time he was asleep which is quite unusual (about 10 mins) on closer inspection Embarassed it was swollen... the lipstick part (sooo sorry if thats TMI) and i'm sure i'd read on here that they can get stuck Shocked he was reluctant to stand up like it was uncomfortable? but i chucked him outside in the rain to cool off for a minute and still it hadn't gone back, i decided to use ice cubes and a cold flannel held on it (only thing i could think to do Embarassed ) and then when i got him to stand up he let me gently slide in back in... it took a little persuasion Embarassed but thankfully its now back inside but i'm hoping it wont stay swollen inside if that makes sense Question i'm keeping an eye on it and will be outside with him before bed to make sure he wees but have i done the correct thing Question is there anything else i can do? its not happened before or with alfie Embarassed

So sorry for this but i'm quite concerned and i'm not overly sure about male dogs bits Embarassed

The same thing happened to Melvin a few weeks ago. I was traumatised! I phoned the vet whose advice was a cold shower, and cold flannels as you've done. Apparantly it's quite common Rolling Eyes and only a cause for concern if it goes on an hour or longer!!

The Lab i lost in 2000, Tyson suffered with these "do's" and it's as if the forskin is too tight and traps blood in the head (sorry if anyones eating sausages).
It wasn't regular enough to consider castration, although he did have an injection of something once to control it.
When i saw 1 coming on, i would roll up a newspaper and run around shouting Fly Fly, (he hated Fly's) and this would take his mind of it before it was too late.
His were not necessary related to dogs on heat, it was often as he woke up, A bit of "morning glory" perhaps.
You might get better answers than this 1 and i will be interested to see them.
Gary and Toby.

Oh and the giant swelling thing at the bottom? If that's what you are talking about, I was near hysterical thinking his bladder was falling out or something. Again all 'normal'. Only girl dogs from now on Laughing
