A few days ago I was wanting to change Majic onto Autarky as we are finding Burns expensive so wanted a food that was equally as good but less in price and Autarky seemed to be the answer. Very Happy

I emailed them today to ask if there was chicken in ther food and there is and unfortunately Majic has an intollerance to chicken so they did suggest there command performance range but just read ingresdients and it has chicken oil in so no better off. Sad

Is there anything that is equally good as Burns but a little cheaper? Confused

If not we will stick to the Burns.

I've read about Chudleys, made by the same people who do Autarky (not the stockists CSJK9 - they do their Command Performance i think - but Dodson and Horrell who manufacturer it) and it comes in various flavours.

Hi

I'm not sure but I think I have read that Beta test there food on animals and I will not buy a food that is tested on animals but thank you for the info. Very Happy

Just been having a look at some other BUAV approved foods and am astonished that a lot say they do Lamb & Rice for dietary intollerances only to look at the ingredients and find they have chiken fat/oil in them. Shocked

Not much good to me unfortunately. Sad

Beta is made by Purina, which I am sure I read has been known to test on animals in the past.

Charlie was on Beta for a while as a young pup, but I have found Burns suits him much better. Also, it doesn't have the additives Beta had.

I am trying to find a thread about it for you Laura. I think this is it. It is quite long now, but informative. Hope the link works:

http://www.labradorforums.co.uk/ftopict-2918.html

Many of us on here feed Burns or Autarky. Burns is somewhat pricey but good. It works out very well if you have a dog who does not need more than the amounts recommended because they are less than other foods, but I think I remember Carroll saying that Majic does need more. Correct me if I am wrong there, Carroll. Very Happy

Yes although a very good food and it suits Majic she does require more than the recommended guidelines as she has a very fast metabolism so she needs more to maintain her weight so a bag doesn't last as long as I would like. Very Happy
