Poor little Lucan is feeling very under the weather, he's been extremely quiet this afternoon and has hardly moved. Mid afternoon he was sick bringing up partly digested food from breakfast and has since been vomiting bile and froth. Bracken tried to get him to play earlier but gave up, lay down beside him and rested his head on Lucan's front leg looking really concerned. He must be feeling very sick as he even refused the few bits of kibble I put down for him when I fed Bracken earlier, totally unheard of! He's so good though, rushes through to the kitchen jumps up and opens the back door to go outside rather than be sick indoors.

B***er he's refused his supper too, now I am getting worried!

Had a thought - he had a small rawhide twisted stick yesterday just as one of Hubby's friends arrived, I hope in all the excitement he didn't swallow it whole! He's eaten dinner, supper and breakfast since then though....????

Poor Lucan, I hope he soon feels better. Has he got hold of anything that he wouldn't normally have? This time of year if you have lots of visitors it's easy to miss something that you would normally keep out of their way.

Its hard to know what it might be, could be the hide chew or a bug a said, I`d keep an eye on Lucan and watch for signs of any pain, such as a tucked up tummy, if that happens get in touch with the vet straight away.

I hope he`s feeling better very soon Very Happy

It could be the bug or indeed the chew causing a bit of a problem in his tummy. I would be tempted to keep a close eye on him and any sign of distress get in touch with the vet. (I am a bit of a worrier) I hope he is soon feeling much better.

I think Coco did that with a chew a few weeks ago, she tends to swallow big chunks whole and we had a couple of days where she was sick then had diarrhoea. Rawhide chews soften and are digested in time so hopefully it will pass through in a couple of days without causing any more problems on the way through.

Hope Lucan is feeling better today it could be the twist, a bug or maybe even Kennel Cough??? That left Tucker completely uninterested in life and he would run for the door everytime he coughed which the first night was about 10 times between 11pm and 2am Sad

I think Luna recently caught a bug - was sick day 1 and night 1 and then 'the runs' day 2 and night 2 and now ok. She's made of tough stuff though and although a little quiet in the first 24hrs she gobbled up some small meals of scrambled egg on day 2 and managed to play with Tucks too.

Like someone says above the rawhide chew will hopefully be softened by his insides and then when small enough to be expelled will be - in one direction or the other or will simply be digested. It could be making him feel sore though.

Call the vet if he is really lethargic, dehydrated, gets worse or instinct says too xx

Thanks all. Smile

Well we didn't get a lot of sleep last night! Decided to have Lucan in the bedroom, so he slept on the bed between us. Rolling Eyes At about 1am I came so close to calling the vet, he was laid flat on his side and you could physically see his stomach cramping. Made the decision to wait an hour to see if it settled and thankfully it did ease up, Lucan relaxed and managed to sleep. He had us up a few times for garden visits but only mooched around or weed.

Got up this morning to a different dog, he's looking a lot brighter and has eaten some breakfast! Very Happy Hopefully he's now on the mend!
