One of our pups is failing to thrive! he is gaining weight very slowly but is all skin and bone, he seems to have a few problems as in the odd seizure too. My vet thinks we should try to build him up and see how he goes.
I was wondering if any breeder out there can suggest a food/drink/ supplement to help him to bulk up? All the other pups are nicely covered!
TIA
BTW The Centre are aware and it has been suggested 8 small meals a day.

It was noticed at 3wks and we are not sure if he is still having Absence type seizures. My Vet thinks it is quite possible he may have a neurological condition that wont be diagnosed yet. He is far too thin to even consider bloods!!
If hes still getting some milk off mum thats probably good. I dont know if its just for newborns but how about finding out about Whelpi or any other milky puppy thing. You dont want to overfeed him and put him off or make his tummy sensitive. Cant help really but i wish him well and i do remember keeping a foal on milk powder for a long time after weaning.

From Christine, Millie, Cassie and Lexi.
Never forgetting Carly and Abbie
The vet suggested giving him Welpi to get a bit more in him and feeding him small meals 8 X a day. he is lively and keen on his food but a quite different to the others!
I'm not sure how restricted you are in what you can do but I would put him on Nature Diet Puppy. At this stage (as he's no longer tiny milk and milk substitutes won't do a lot.)
Do lots of small meals but of Nature Diet Puppy. Feeding him separately if he's a bit slow.
And obviously he must be checked regularly by the vets.
Never had anything like this my smaller pup is the same size as the others now and rudely healthy but obviously if I bred a pup like this he would be kept.
He is being fed seperately as I wasnt sure if he was getting enough. He is always hungry, poos good and has energy but also sleeps more than the others. It was suggested I tried Nature Menu as it is wetter than ND, have to find a supplier first tho!
Already considering keeping him until he is well enough to be adopted or 'for the duration'!! Really couldnt let him be adopted like he is!!

I don't have any advice but wanted to send my love to the little one who is struggling. I remember how upsetting it is to have a poorly pup so thinking of you too.
