Collected Murphy yesterday, he is a 10 week old chocolate lab.
Last night was his first night in his new house. He is staying in a crate in our utility room, the crate certainly seems to have become his safe place.
Got up at 2am and 5am to bring him out which worked very well as we have had a clean night. He also seems to be expecting his treat when he goes outside which i assume is quite a good thing as he has already associated going outside for his business.
So far he has not ventured out of the utility room despite the door of the crate and the utility room door being wide open...I assume he just needs time to settle in ? Before he is confident enough to come out.
I love that he has had a clean night and that he has a safe place, it sounds like he has already been toilet training
I am sure that he will soon be roaming the house in a way that has you panicking! He will be settling in and will come out with time. Yuou could either leave him to it or encourage him to explore with you - pups like to follow when unsure so use you 'heel' 'close' 'with me' command when he follows you! Start early on with lead training ie even before the lead is on him!
He is adorable As he is 10 weeks old he may be used to staying in a particular room or area as I'm not sure the breeder would have had a load of puppies running around the place ... but then you never know
As Laura has already suggested, encourage him to follow you around and he should soon find his courage once he has settled a bit more.
Keep us posted on how he gets on and don't forget the pictures

ww he`s adorable, reminds me of CJ at that age, make the most of it, this time next week he`ll seem twice the size
At this age they`ll do something active like playing, exploring etc and just suddenly fall asleep where they are, if people are able to walk around him and there`s nothing dangerous like cooking going on then I`d leave him where he is, if he`s in the way then try lifting him gently and put him in his crate, he may wake but should soon fall asleep again when he`s somewhere he feels safe`
