Adams grandma got diagnosed with an triple A. Abdominal aortic aneurism I i think about a year or so ago. We have been to visit her regularly and our last visit was back in august when we took her to bridlington for the day, fish and chips on the sea front and an ice cream. Then we took her to argos to buy and put together a tv table. She said it was the best day of her life! We were told she wouldnt last long so we made the most of what time we did have with her by seeing her and calling her regularly! Her being stubborn we knew she would last a lot longer than the doctors said just to spite them! Then this morning we got the call. It burst she is in hospital and doesnt have long to live. Adams dad is rushing up and hoping to get there in time. However its too late for us to say goodbye. She is unconscious and is likely to slip away in her sleep before the day is out. As you can imagine we are in pieces. She is the closest thing to a grandma I have because i was too little or not alive when mine where alive. She has been soo good to us and looked after us. I am wearing the kukara brooch (gurka knife - sorry for bad spelling) she gave me from (from 1 servicemans wife to another she put in her letter to me.) As you can imagine for us to get back would cost far far too much and with the 2 dogs we would never find someone to have them both and afford to get back.So we are stuck here. We are going to do our own little memorial here for her. And to top it off adam goes out to afghan just after the new year! So we wont be able to get back for the funeral! I just want all your LF vibes to help us get through what will be a very emotional and upsetting christmas and new year! We are lucky we got an extra year and a half with her and filled that time with happy memories but it is still such a difficult time to lose such a beloved grandma!
Many Thanks
Hayley, Adam and Indi

She is unconscious and peacefully slipping away, she is not in pain - I have been with someone when this happened.
She obviously thought a lot of you and knows how much she means to you, I am sure she was thrilled when you and Adam visited her each time, and although you won't be able to get back for the funeral she was a service wife and understands the constraints. On the day have a little celebration of her life - the funeral is just the "physical" side of things and you do not have to be there to mark the passing of a lady who meant so much to you.
Just after moving out to Belgium with little Luna pup my beloved Grandad died suddenly and it took some figuring out to get me back for his funeral. So glad you have some lovely memories.
