As a thought; I would also get him used to sitting on different surfaces, hard floor, concrete, carpet, grass. make the training varied so he doesn't just associate the stay with one type of surface. This goes for heel work and pretty much everything really. Its good to get pup used to as many different environments, noise etc as soon as you can.
