We seem to have a really poorly Mils this morning
Usually in the mornings she refuses to get out of bed and we have to lift her, I'd always assumed she was just being lazy as she can be a super lazy dog
But, this morning she clearly couldn't get out of bed and was crying in pain. I've managed to get her into the lounge and the crying has practically stopped but she's very immobile and I can hear her joints creaking when she's moving. She's not happy either, there's very few wags going on today
It's really odd, she was fine yesterday but it's like I've put an 8.5 year old dog to bed and gotten a real oldie up this morning
I'm keeping her with me quiet and away from the others and if there's no improvement by lunchtime I'll take her in but just wondered if anyone had any advice?

Oh no Jayne,I don't have any ideas at all I'm afraid. It's weird if she was fine yesterday. I just wanted to say hope she's feeling better later. I'd be at the vet if it was Lottie but I am such a worrier (aren't we all)
Hope she improves. Poor Mills.
Take care and let us know later hon
It sounds as if she has Osteoarthritis, especially as she is reluctant to get up in the mornings. It could be that this cold, damp weather has caused it to flare up, which is why she is even worse now.
As you can actually hear her creaking, I'd definitely get her looked at and get her on some supplements, possibly Cartrophen jabs and Anti Inflams too.
OA can be very painful and very common in Labs unfortunately.
I would get her to the vet as this is a big change in behaviour and could indicate something going on internally or discomfort in her joints if she is creaking.
Is she taking any joint supplements at the moment? - if not I would put her on something like Glycoflex 3 or Seraquin or similar. When I took Luna off Glycoflex and switched her to Seraquin there was a noticeable difference in her mobility and bounce.
It could be that she would benefit from some anti-inflammatories if her joints are causing her discomfort - the vet will be able to prescribe them.
Did she do anything especially energetic yesterday or in the past week?
Is she toileting/eating etc normally?
As an afterthought, she had her boosters on Sat, I wonder if that might have anything to do with it?
I think OA is an Autoimmune disease, so yes having her body bombarded with something which is designed to cause an immune response, could, I guess, have caused a flare up. I'm no medic though....just guessing.
Laura - she's not on any meds except her Epiphen at the moment. Aside from the morning laziness (which I now see with hindsight could be stiffness) it's like a complete change overnight - I just don't get it
We're off to the vet at 9.50 - she won't even get up to come across the lounge for a cuddle
