Tell me about it, I too have full blown conversations with my 2. I forgot the other week & started chattering away at dog training class, doing a length of heelwork! But I don't care
There are two reasons I wanted dogs again:
1. To warm my feet on
2. To have a captive audience as OH refuses to hang around when I'm chatting and singing.
Have a new favourite......and slightly perilous.....game. Has anyone tried gymnastics in front of a sleeping Labrador? It's the best fun ever! Just forward roll past them and see the shock and then glee on their sleep-crumpled chops

I talk to my dogs all the time. Only this morning Rosie and I had a very lengthy conversation in the kitchen and my husband came downstairs and said, "Have you gone mad woman?!? I thought one of the neighbours was in having coffee!" and to my astonished look he said, "You've been yabbering on about going shopping today, what time you'll be in from work, what's for tea and the flippin' x-factor final! - and you're talking to the dog!?!?!?!"

LOL, we are getting increasingly mad on our walks (me and OH that is, Max is turning into the grownup!). We have found the only way to get a recall when other dogs and people are around is jumping around like loons, squeaking toys and waving carrots/sausage, and we are very excited when he comes back - walkers with less sociable dogs have no idea.
I was laughed at today - I had to put Max on his lead to walk away from a dog as he wasn't listening to me. We have started playing a game in training where you start from a sit, then run with them on lead squealing anything in an excited voice - 123, or ready steady go, that kind of thing. then in mid flight ask for an immediate sit or down, then as soon as they do it, huge praise and off you go again as reward "123", "ready steady go". All very exciting, and I did it today so he wouldn't feel that coming away from the other dog was second choice wey hey!!!
Someone else also suggested when they are sniffing on a walk, saying "123 lets go" - blow me that works like a treat too - especially if you really squeal when you say it, followed by a red face when you go round a corner and see you've been caught out
