It can vary hugely depending on the breeding of the dog. Mine have weighed from 4-7 kilos at that age!

I am by no means an expert in this field. But have a lovely little lab who we picked up at 8 weeks old and only weighed 3.5kg. (but a very healthy boy). Took him to socialisation sessions organised at local vets and was made to feel like I had a freak with me compared to an owner who brought along her 2 labs at same age and were twice the size and weight.

As my lovely vet said (and put this awful woman in her place), it really depends on each dog. Bentleys Mum is a working gundog and his dad is a working police dog. At 13 weeks he is now 9kg and is all in proportion.

Bella was also a small puppy and still is - at 7 weeks she weighed 4kg She is a mix of working & show lines and is definitely more working lines in size and shape.

There used to be a lovely photo on here (before all the albums were lost) of two pups the same age sat next to each other. One was like Giant Haystacks and the other like Tom Thumb Wink , yet both were perfectly healthy and the right weight for their breeding.

I'd only be worried about your pup if both parents are big chunky Show Bred Labs, as then I'd expect the pup to be about 7kgs. If your pups parents are fine boned, small Labs though, then your pup could be perfectly fine.

Hi, I would expect as stated by others, all Labs weight are generally different, my little bundle Angus seems to be putting on between 1-1/2 Kilos per week, at 8 weeks he was about 6 kg, now 13 weeks he is 14kg and not at all over weight.

Just a question, how big was Mum and Dad?

Thanks Lee

I think Jules maybe means this photo. Zephyr and Hamish Mc Haggis at 17 weeks. They are only 2 days apart in age.

This makes Zephyr look like an evil plotter!
