Hi

At what age do male pups start to lift their leg to wee?

My pup is now just over 7 months of age and an absolute joy. We have had no major problems with him and i couldn't image my life without him. Labradors are a lovely nature and i would recommend them to anyone.

CJ was around 9 months when he lifted his leg for the first time.

Some dogs though will pee like a girl all their lives, it really doesn`t matter though, you love your boy and thats what counts Smile

Digger is 9.5 months now and has started this week!

But like Mary said it really doesn't matter when they start or if they even do it.

I agree it doesn't matter if he does or not, i was just curious as to what age they usually start. Thank you for your replies.

Both Busby and Chief (Golden Retriever) started at about 10-12mths of age I think. But they still like to mix and match on leg lifting and weeing like a girl depending on their mood Laughing

Yorkie 5yo and Rocky 6yo (golden retriever) have simply never bothered - must seem like too much effort!!

Frankie started lifting his leg for the occasional effort about 10/11 months (he did look like a bit like a giraffe on ice) and finally mastered it about a year.
He still insists on a huge theatrical 'swoosh', just like he is in the high hurdles - he's very proud of his piddle-power! Laughing

Cooper was about 7 months when he first did it. I had to help him stay steady for the first few goes, but I was such a proud mum that morning Smile

He will still do girly wees in the garden tho', doesnt need to impress anyone there!

Gillie has only just started at 2.5 years! Only very occasionally though on special occasions.
