Hi
I've never had a homecheck done before and we are due to have one.
Can anyone tell me what sort fo thing they do on a homecheck, wwhat they are looking for etc? I want to ensure we are prepared and have everything in place ready. I'm sure our home is already dog proof with a puppy but I guess you never can tell what people may be looking out for.
Many thanks
Toyah

When I do a homecheck, I check the garden is secure and there is a place for the dog to sleep and you are aware of any problems it comes with. I am sure most homecheckers can suss out if you are suitable very quickly. I certainly dont look for dust etc , I might be concerned if the home had white carpets etc and I was asked to take my shoes off at the door
Good luck and dont panic, if you have succesfully had your application approved and are through to the home check, only something extraordinary should make a difference!!!

I hope that you're joking? I've got clean cream carpets and a no-shoe policy - but that doesn't mean that my dogs and cats don't live a normal, happy life rolling around in the dirt It just means that my vax gets plenty of action on the wee, poo, sick, mud, dead-deer-goo (Moss is such a grubby boy!)......and that's not starting on the mess the humans make!
(and I'm not even anywhere near as obsessed as the posters on the steam cleaner thread! )

Sounds to me like you will be fine, I was asked to look at whether the house was an advert for a magazine with cream carpets , but my idea is if the house looks like it is lived in and garden is secure, an the resident dog/pup and the new boy/girl have their own space from each other if necessary for the settling in period, I rely on gut feeling when meeting adopter especially if they are aware that the rescue may take sometime to adjust and prepared for it.
Good Luck
