we use purina pro plan for my collie with a sensitive stomach - he was super gassy and had horrendous poos until we switched him to the sensitive recipe. My lab is on the puppy food and fed my last lab it asl well- we swear by it. The difference in my collie's coat and behavious was incredible after he was switched

I've just been comparing the costs of Burns and Simpsons. The link above shows a 15kg sack of Simpsons chicken and rice to be £31.50 compared with my usual 15kg sack of Burns Alert for which I pay £37.00. However, the feeding guidelines say that my 20kg dog should get around 300g per day which is 50% more than Burns (200g), so it works out more expensive in the long run.

Ruby who is about the same size as Coco has 220gms per day which works out cheaper then Burns Very Happy

I think it is the rice that is causing the wind..

I have my puppies on Orijen but have swapped my other girls back to Simpson's sensitive, lamb and potato.. I had to compromise with hubby so he would let me keep Hilda AND Harriet. I like any food that doesn't contain grains as i feel that 'that' is not a healthy diet for any dog..

Loads of vegetables and meat with a zero grain content is the way for me.. If you look really carefully there are a few foods that are now following that route..

No wind in this house.... Laughing Apart from the hubby... Shocked

I agree - we are coming to that conclusion with Tiber - I'm looking at trying CSJ or James Well Beloved who also do a meat and vegetable mix.

Its so hard finding a dog food that suits your dogs tummy and activity levels - I feel your pain!

Hope you find the right food for Rufus!

Pam.... If the nutritional percentages are similar in the two foods, then you'd feed the same for both making Simpson cheaper Smile

I was going by the feeding guidelines. Burns is 10g per kg of body weight whilst Simpsons say a 15-25kg dog should be fed 240-350g per day which makes it 200g of Burns or 300g of Simpsons for a 20kg dog.

The only thing I can see which I don't like in the Simpsons ingredients list is maize which is often a cause of digestive problems, otherwise it seems like a pretty good food.

My sack of Burns costs £37 and lasts 10 weeks so I don't think it is bad value at all.
